Minister for Local Government Balaam Barugahara has clarified that the DNA tests carried out on the alleged children of late music legend Paul Kafeero were funded using his personal money.

Balaam dismissed claims that government resources were used in the exercise, insisting it was a personal decision driven by the friendship he shared with the late Kadongo Kamu icon.

“I used personal funds to carry out the recently released DNA tests as a friend to the late. The government has no such a budget to do so,” Balaam explained.

Support Beyond DNA Results

The minister also revealed that he plans to support the 21 children who were excluded after the DNA results.

According to Balaam, he is working with other well-wishers to help them acquire land and settle properly, despite the fact that they were found not to be biologically linked to Kafeero.

Mixed Reactions

The revelation has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising Balaam for his personal intervention and compassion, while others continue debating the wider implications of the DNA process.

Still, many have welcomed his pledge to support the affected children, saying it shows concern beyond the controversy.
