Veteran Ugandan music star Jose Chameleone has revealed that he lost over UGX 200 million in a failed attempt to launch his own television station.
The Leone Island boss disclosed that his dream of starting Leone Island TV collapsed after he was conned by a fraudster who sold him what he believed was a genuine broadcasting license.
According to Chameleone, the so-called license turned out to be nothing more than a test signal.
“I started Leone Island TV, but I was conned. Someone sold me what turned out to be only a test signal instead of an actual TV license, and I lost over UGX 200 million,” Chameleone revealed.
Walking Away For Safety
The singer explained that after realizing he had been defrauded, he chose to step away from the project instead of pursuing the matter further.
“I chose to walk away because I still value my life,” he added.

Chameleone’s revelation highlights the risks that come with investing in unfamiliar business ventures, even for high-profile public figures.
