Former NUP mobiliser Ashburg Katto has publicly appealed to Bobi Wine for forgiveness, expressing regret over his decision to leave the opposition movement and join the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Katto, who was once closely associated with Bobi Wine and the People Power movement, said he now considers his decision to switch political allegiance a mistake.
“I want Bobi Wine to forgive me for betraying him. It was a bad decision on my side, and I will forever regret it. I am seeking to be forgiven, as I need a second chance,” Katto said.
He also appealed to supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP), saying he is prepared to do whatever is required of him if given another opportunity.
“I will do everything he needs. My appeal also goes to the supporters of National Unity Platform. Please forgive me,” he added.
Katto’s latest appeal echoes an apology he made in 2023, when he said he regretted leaving the opposition movement and wanted to return to his “roots.”
His latest plea was also reported in September 2026, when he was seen kneeling in a video while asking Bobi Wine and former colleagues for forgiveness. No publicly confirmed response from Bobi Wine to the latest appeal has been reported.
Katto’s remarks suggest that he is seeking reconciliation with his former political allies, although it remains unclear whether he will be welcomed back into the NUP fold.
