Socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has responded to Full Figure’s criticism of her lavish spending and questions over her charity work.
Full Figure recently criticised Zari for spending millions on lavish birthday celebrations, arguing that she could instead use her wealth to support less privileged people.
Zari acknowledged the remarks but pushed back against what she described as a sense of entitlement over other people’s money.
In a message shared on her social media platforms, the self-styled Boss Lady urged people to stop deciding how others should spend money they worked hard to earn.
“Everyone knows how they work for their money, how they suffer to get it. So, if they decide to help you, well and good and if they do not, it is not also a bad thing. Please stop the entitlement,” she said.
Zari also rejected the suggestion that she does not engage in charity work, saying she has supported people in several African countries.
“I have done charities in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa and still going. I adopted a certain orphanage in South Africa with like 76 children that I take care of under my company,” she said.
She added that she does not believe every act of charity needs to be publicised on social media.
“I will not come out to explain myself or always show off because you call me stingy. If I have not given you, it doesn’t mean that I do not give someone else. I look after a number of children in Kampala and not put it on the internet and they appreciate me,” she said.
Zari’s response comes amid renewed discussion about how wealthy public figures spend their money and whether their charitable activities should be made public.
