Former Urban TV host Mary Luswata has admitted that she misses being on television, despite the emotional toll her previous career took on her.

Luswata rose to fame in the 2010s through her outspoken celebrity gossip shows, where her blunt criticism of musicians and other creatives often sparked controversy and backlash.

Although she enjoyed her time on air, Luswata says the demands of the job eventually became overwhelming and affected her mentally.

“I miss TV because I love TV, but being an on-air personality took so much from me, and I think the nature of the show also took so much from me. For so many years, I told myself I did that, and it was good, it was fun,” she said in an interview with a local YouTuber.

Luswata explained that it took her a long time to recover from the mental stress associated with her years on television.

She eventually began looking for ways to reinvent herself and explore other areas of the television industry, which led her into production.

Luswata later joined the BBC, where she spent 18 months working in production management and gained experience on major television programmes.

“I went to the BBC, and I did 18 months there of production management, and I worked on really big shows. That has introduced me to a new branch of TV that I fell in love with,” she added.

With her renewed interest in television, Luswata says she is now considering starting a production company to support her personal ventures and future projects.
