City Promoter Sabavulu Balaam’s only son, Jonathan Tusiime Amooti has been laid to rest at Nakasajja off Kayunga Road.
Before burial, a funeral service led by Father Edward Muwanga was held at St. Charles Lwanga Catholic Church in Ntinda.
The requiem mass had been organized for the promoter’s family, friends, Jonathan’s friends and the general public.
Balaam arrived as the mass had already started as he had been in the US to secure further medical attention for his son when he passed away at Kadik hospital.
We have been told that having lost his Munyoro dad in 1991, Events promoter Sabavulu Balaam was brought up by relatives elsewhere... so when he lost his only beloved son, he chose to create his own burial ground off Kayunga Rd.
"I have had a complicated life. I was born in Bunyoro, grew up in Kamuli, was raised by Baganda and others. That’s why I have decided to burry here. Let me start my own bijja" Balaam said as he gave a speech at the burial of his son Jonathan Tumusiime, 2, yesterday.
The burial was graced by multitudes of mourners from all walks including artistes Jose chameleon , Bebe cool, Irene Namubiru, Mesharch Semakula, Big Eye, Grace Sekamate and others.
Many tycoons including MTN chairman and Ugandan shareholder Charles Mbiire, Karim Hirji who talked as Balaams father since he is the one who first employed Balaam in Kampala and the two have become really close, BMK to mention but a few.
The sickness of this boy has made me strong. I have now understood that money is nothing. We have moved all over the world trying to find a cure but it was all in vain. We have spent well over 800m in treatment of which Muhoozi Keinerugaba gave me 80M and my dad Karim gave me 100M . When i had finally secured a hospital in USA which promised to cure it, i was told Jonathan is dead" Balaam said as a tear dropped down his chick.
He promised to now look for a new woman and marry. "this sickness has made me mature. I will now look for another woman and marry and maybe God willing have more kids" he said sending the crowd murmuring.
Jonathan, who has been battling cancer for over a year, was Balaams only bilogical son. HE died Sunday at Kadik Hospital.
May his soul rest in Peace.
