A few weeks back, socialite Charles Olimu commonly known as Sipapa was abandoned by his lawyers whom he had hired to defend him in a case pinning him over an aggravated robbery case.
The lawyers demand 100M million, but Sipapa’s brother revealed that the prisoner has no access to his money.
Despite the challenges, Sipapa had managed to get a new lawyer, Geoffrey Turyamusiima.
On Monday, Turyamusiima requested Makindye grade one court magistrate, Patience Lorna Tukundane to compel the prosecution to fast-track investigations.
“This is the third time the file is brought in court and hence investigations should have been completed by now,” Turyamusiima said.
“The accused right to personal liberty was infringed upon when he spent over 48 hours in custody before arraignment in court,” Turyamusiima told the court.
Sipapa was remanded to Luzira prison until November of this year.
