Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has endorsed musician Mansur Semanda, widely known as King Saha, as the ideal candidate to lead musicians in Uganda. Lukwago, who also serves as King Saha's lawyer, believes Saha possesses the essential qualities for effective leadership within the music industry.
In a recent interview with a local television station, Lukwago articulated his conviction, stating, "King Saha has the heart and vision to lead the music industry. I believe he was the right choice to represent artists as their president. He showed resilience and comradeship." He further emphasized King Saha's integrity and ability to drive the musicians' body forward.
This endorsement comes after King Saha's previous attempt to secure the leadership position in 2022, when he ran against fellow musician Cinderella Sanyu, also known as Cindy. The election was abruptly canceled hours after it began and was subsequently postponed. Despite allegations of ballot stuffing and bribery, reports indicated that King Saha was in an early lead before the cancellation.
King Saha has consistently maintained his commitment to leading the musical community and has frequently called for the elections to be reinstated. Erias Lukwago has echoed this sentiment, joining the call for the much-anticipated elections to take place.
