Artiste manager and singer Chagga has denied allegations that he received financial support from Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation ahead of his concert that was scheduled to take place earlier this month.
The event was cancelled after the promoter reportedly failed to pay several service providers, leading to logistical chaos and ultimately the show’s termination.
Following the cancellation, reports circulated claiming that Chagga had taken money from Kenzo and the Federation, sparking online criticism. However, Chagga has come out strongly to refute the claims.
He clarified that Kenzo had only pledged to support the concert by performing, and not with funds.
“I have never received any amount of money from Kenzo as funding for my concert. His support was physical appearance at the show, not money. He promised to support me on the show and indeed left upcountry and came for the event even when it didn’t take place,” Chagga explained.
Chagga expressed disappointment and frustration, saying he feels betrayed by friends who let him down during what was meant to be a major milestone in his career.
He says he has struggled alongside many in the industry for years, yet they failed to show up when he needed them most.
