Dancehall musician Kapeke has declared that he does not believe in religion despite identifying as a Catholic, it has emerged.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, the outspoken singer revealed that although he was raised Catholic, he does not pray because he lacks belief in religion.
Kapeke emphasized that whatever success he has achieved has come from personal struggles and hard work aimed at making himself a better person.
He argued that those who pray without putting in effort may survive but rarely progress, while those who hustle can go miles even without prayers.
“I can’t take my awards to Church. I didn’t pray to get them, I worked hard and these are fruits of my hard work. I am a Catholic but I don’t pray, I don’t know what takes place there,” he explained.
Kapeke remains one of the best performing musicians in Uganda currently and recently won five accolades at the Zzina Awards 2026.
