Musician Bebe Cool has joined Ugandans in mourning the deaths of 20 schoolchildren who were killed in a tragic road accident in Kapchorwa District on Thursday night.
In a statement shared on his X account, the veteran singer expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy and extended his condolences to the bereaved families, the school administration, teachers, and friends of the victims.
Bebe Cool said his thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected during what he described as an unimaginable loss.
Beyond mourning the victims, the Gagamel boss called on authorities to introduce stricter regulations governing school trips to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Among his proposals, Bebe Cool urged the Ministry of Education and Sports to make official approval mandatory for all school trips. He also recommended compulsory roadworthiness inspections for vehicles transporting schoolchildren.
In addition, he called for strict driver fitness and background checks and suggested that police escorts be considered for school trips covering long distances.
According to Bebe Cool, Uganda stands to benefit from stronger child safety measures, stressing that many such tragedies can be prevented through better planning, enforcement, and accountability.
He emphasized that the greatest loss occurs when preventable risks are ignored, urging authorities to act decisively to safeguard the lives of schoolchildren.
