Kadongo Kamu singer Mathias Walukagga has said he has no plans to abandon politics despite missing out on the Busiro East parliamentary race after his nomination was blocked over academic qualification requirements.
Speaking about the events leading up to the 2026 General Election, Walukagga claimed his candidature was unfairly frustrated through political maneuvering involving former Speaker Anita Among, former Busiro East MP Medard Sseggona, and other political interests.
"I was really sad and angry because I believed I deserved the NUP flag. They thought removing me would make it easier for someone else to win," he said.
Walukagga argued that those who opposed his candidature expected then-incumbent MP Medard Sseggona to retain the seat with ease. However, he noted that the constituency was eventually won by Emmanuel Magoola, which he believes proved their strategy had failed.
Despite the setback, the veteran singer said he remains committed to politics and intends to return in 2031.
For now, Walukagga says he is concentrating on his music career while preparing for another shot at elective politics in the future.
