National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, says poor organization was the opposition's biggest weakness during the previous general elections.
Speaking during an interview with Kayz while in the United States, Bobi Wine said the opposition succeeded in mobilizing and awakening the public but failed to build the organizational structures needed to achieve its broader political objectives.
"The first step was awakening people, the second was mobilisation, and I believe we did both successfully. Where we fell short was organisation," he said.
According to the opposition leader, many politicians focused on winning parliamentary and other elective positions instead of prioritizing the wider goal of challenging President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
"I kept telling my comrades that they were leaving me to fight Museveni alone, yet he controls the army and virtually every institution of government," he added.
Bobi Wine said stronger coordination and organization within the opposition would improve its chances in future elections, expressing confidence that political change remains achievable.
His remarks come as political parties continue to assess their performance ahead of Uganda's next general elections.
