singer Liam Voice has questioned proposals to increase toll fees on the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway, arguing that the move would place an additional burden on ordinary Ugandans.
The singer weighed in on the matter as discussions surrounding a possible increase from the current Shs5,000 toll fee continue to attract public attention.
Liam Voice said some government decisions leave him frustrated rather than amused.
“There are things you look at and just laugh, not because they're funny but because of anger,” he said.
He sarcastically questioned whether the Expressway “drinks sugar” to justify a toll increase, referring to the rising cost of sugar and other household commodities.
“The Burden Falls on Ordinary Ugandans”
According to Liam Voice, increasing the toll at a time when Ugandans are already dealing with high commodity prices would only stretch household budgets further.
“If there are high sugar prices, then that means the burden falls back to the ordinary Ugandan, so there shouldn't be any more stretching it with the increase in toll fares on the Express Highway,” he added.
The singer also questioned the judgment of officials making decisions that directly affect the cost of living for ordinary citizens.
