Veteran singer Cindy Sanyu has applauded Ugandans for increasingly embracing and supporting local musicians, saying the industry has made significant progress over the years.
Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, Cindy reflected on a time when major stadium concerts in Uganda were largely dominated by foreign artistes.
According to the singer, the growing number of Ugandan musicians filling major venues is a sign of how much local music has evolved.
“Ugandans have since embraced their musicians. They have really supported us unlike years before when stadiums were for only foreign artists in Uganda. It is a blessing,” she partly said.
‘I Take Time Writing My Music’
Cindy also addressed why she does not release music as frequently as some of her peers, explaining that she takes considerable time to write and perfect her songs.
The singer said her deliberate approach has helped her build a catalogue of what she describes as classic music that continues to resonate with audiences long after release.
“I take time writing my music. It is the reason I take time to release music. I never struggle for the market because I do classic music. The content I release is respected, it lives for quite a long time,” she added.
Cindy's comments highlight her belief that longevity in music depends on creating quality and timeless content rather than simply maintaining a constant release schedule.
