Musician King Saha has challenged fellow artistes who claim they are not involved in politics, arguing that no one can completely separate themselves from political issues because they affect everyday life.
Saha, who has publicly supported the National Unity Platform (NUP) and its president Bobi Wine, said musicians, like other members of society, are directly affected by decisions made by political leaders.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session, Saha argued that politics influences nearly every aspect of people's lives, particularly through decisions concerning public resources.
“Any musician who says they are not involved in politics is lying to themselves,” he said.
According to Saha, speaking about political issues does not necessarily mean supporting a particular political party. Instead, he believes it can simply reflect concern for the welfare of fellow citizens.
“If resources are not appropriated well, people are going to suffer, so how can you say you are not involved in politics?” he questioned.
Saha’s comments come amid ongoing debate among Ugandan artistes over the role of musicians in politics, with some choosing to openly support political parties while others prefer to remain neutral.
