Kadongo Kamu singer Kazibwe Kappo Hassan has hit back at a woman accusing him of neglecting his alleged daughter, saying he had suggested a DNA test before the matter was taken to the media.
A woman identified as Nabaweesi Jamirah appeared on a television programme, claiming that Kazibwe had failed to fulfil his responsibilities as a father to their daughter.
According to Nabaweesi, the alleged relationship dates back to 2006, when Kazibwe and fellow musician Abdu Mulaasi performed at a show in her village in Kyankwanzi.
She claimed that she spent time with Kazibwe and obtained his phone number the following morning. She said he had told her to contact him if any problem arose.
Responding to the allegations, Kazibwe expressed displeasure with her decision to discuss the matter publicly, insisting that he had not denied the child and had proposed a DNA test to establish paternity.
“Even when the results confirm that she is my child, I will still carry the other feeling that her mother annoyed me when she went to the news. She thought she was tarnishing my brand, but I was not this person in my 30s. Besides, I had not denied my child; I suggested we go for the DNA, and you chose the news,” he said.
The singer’s response suggests that he wants paternity established through DNA testing, while the dispute over his alleged parental responsibilities continues to attract public attention.
