Popular comedian Sammy Okanya of the Mighty Family group has, after years away from the industry, remembered his buddies.

The comedian, who is currently battling health issues, has appealed to his colleagues for help, revealing he is fighting for his life from his sickbed.

The comedian wrote publicly to the Uganda Comedians Association, which is currently led by Hannington Bugingo.

"The Uganda Comedians Association #TUCA Subject: Request for Urgent Medical and Financial Support

Dear Ugandan Comedians Association,

My name is Sammy Okaya, a proud member of Uganda’s comedy family. I come to you today not just as a fellow entertainer, but as a brother in deep pain and distress.

During the recent campaigns, I was unfortunately injured while performing and supporting community events. What began as a passionate moment of serving and uplifting others through laughter has left me broken and hospitalized. Right now, I am in a very critical condition, fighting for my health and my life," he partly wrote.

Sammy revealed he wouldn't have written to them for rescue, but he has no option as his medical bills are overwhelming and his health condition continues to worsen every day.

He appealed for financial support, rallying fellow comedians to fundraise whatever amount is possible for the good of his health.

"It hurts me deeply to write this message, but I have no choice left. The medical bills are overwhelming, and my condition continues to worsen. I humbly reach out to the association—my brothers and sisters in the comedy industry—for financial support and prayers during this difficult time.

We have always stood together as artists, using our voices to heal, unite, and bring joy to Uganda. Today, I plead that we extend that same unity and love toward one of our own. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help me receive the treatment I so urgently need.

Thank you for taking the time to read my plea. I still have the heart to stand on stage and make people laugh again—but right now, I need your help to survive this moment.

With deep humility and hope, Sammy Okaya," he added.
