Media personality and musician Robert Ssekidde, also known as Tuff B, has entered active politics and is contesting for the NUP party ticket to run in the Makindye East division.
Tuff B aims to represent the people of Makindye East in parliament in 2026. Having been in the media for over fifteen years, he believes his journalism background makes him stand out among the other candidates in the race for the position.
He explained that voters are familiar with him and feel comfortable approaching him because of his television presence. He added that his music career also brings him closer to them.
"What sets my work apart from other professions is that I am easily approachable. People reach out to me without fear because they are already familiar with me from my time on TV and in music, which makes my work easier," he explained in an interview with a local television station.
Until earlier this year, Tuff B worked with NBS Television as the host of the Saturday show "KURT," which features entertainment news, music, and interviews with artists from the East African region.
Despite his claims of being close to the people, Tuff B faces a difficult challenge in securing the National Unity Platform's endorsement. Reports indicate that party leaders are considering giving the ticket to Ali Mulyanyama, the current Mayor of the Makindye division.
