Singer Omulangira Suuna has expressed disappointment over what he says is King Michael's failure to acknowledge his contribution to the singer's early music career.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, Suuna claimed he played a key role in helping King Michael break into the music industry, including contributing to the success of the hit song Muko Muko.
According to Suuna, he first met King Michael around 2005 and 2006, when he was primarily working as a producer and songwriter.
"He begged me to help him the same way I had done for the Radios. I was more of a producer than an artist and helped many artists; some of them made it and the rest didn't," Suuna said.
The singer explained that King Michael approached him shortly after he had worked on Radio and Weasel's Nakudata, seeking similar guidance for his own music career.
Suuna said he was disappointed that despite his alleged contribution, he was neither invited to nor acknowledged during King Michael's recent concert, although he attended the event to support him.
"He never talks about me because that is how Ugandans are. He has his reasons as to why he does it that way, and it is up to him to remember those that have been there for him and also ignore the others. He didn't mention my name. That is how Ugandans are; we never want to appreciate those who deserve it at the right time. That is what has pulled our country backwards," he said.
King Michael had not publicly responded to Suuna's claims at the time of publication.
