Renowned musician David Lutalo has spent over 15 years in Uganda’s music industry, consistently delivering quality music and maintaining his spot among the country’s top performers.
Over the years, Lutalo has successfully held major concerts at some of Kampala’s biggest venues, including Lugogo Cricket Oval, Hotel Africana, and Serena Hotel, among others.
In a recent interview with a local television station, the singer opened up about the secret behind his long-lasting success, crediting it to consistency and hard work.
“First of all, I have never been comfortable. I’m afraid of living in a comfort zone after releasing a song. I can intentionally create demand by taking some time off without releasing new music — but not to relax,” Lutalo said.
He added that when recording music, he doesn’t aim for quick hits but rather for songs with lasting value.
“I don’t release hit songs; I make good music that lives on for years. A song might not be a hit today, but people can still love it even after ten years,” he explained.
Lutalo’s philosophy of focusing on timeless music rather than trends, he says, is what has kept him relevant and respected in Uganda’s music industry for over a decade.
