As Uganda heads into another heated election season, many musicians are once again taking sides — publicly endorsing presidential candidates and appearing on campaign rallies across the country.

While several artists continue to support President Museveni and others stand firmly behind Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), singer Azawi has chosen a different path.

Azawi, who has recently been outspoken and critical of government actions, says she will not be endorsing any presidential candidate this time around.

Speaking in an interview with a local YouTuber, the singer explained that she does not subscribe to any political party and prefers to remain neutral.

“I am not going to endorse anybody this political season. Personally, I don’t subscribe to any political party. I just stand with those who seek justice and fairness,” she stated.

However, she revealed that she is willing to support certain parliamentary candidates whose values align with issues such as human rights, justice, and freedom.

Before this election cycle, Azawi was widely known to admire Bobi Wine and many believed she would publicly rally behind him — but she insists her focus now is on integrity rather than partisan loyalty.
