Musician Spice Diana has opened up about the state of Uganda’s music industry in 2025, describing the year as a positive and rewarding one.

Speaking in an interview with a local podcast, the singer said the industry has performed better than it did in 2024, citing the quality of music released and the opportunities created for both emerging and established artistes.

“Musically it’s beautiful. I think we are doing better than last year. There is a lot of good music around, new musicians are getting opportunities, and those of us who have been here managed to maintain our positions,” Spice Diana explained.

She also weighed in on the relationship between music and politics, noting that political activity has not affected the industry as much as she initially feared.

According to the singer, performances and bookings have continued normally, with December proving especially busy for her.

“Politics has not affected us as much as I expected. By now I thought we wouldn’t have gigs in November and December, but personally I am fully booked this month,” she added.

However, Spice Diana expressed concern about the coming months, particularly January, which she says already shows signs of slowdown.

“I think we shall be affected in January. You can already see it from the bookings, they are limited,” she noted.

Despite the uncertainty ahead, Spice Diana remains optimistic, celebrating a year she believes has been growth-filled and musically successful for the industry.
