Media personality Robert Sekidde, popularly known as Tuff B, has suffered a major setback in his political ambitions following a poor showing in the Makindye East parliamentary race.
Tuff B lost the election to National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Ali Mulyanyama Kasirye, who secured 17,700 votes, while NRM’s Judith Nuwabeine Abaho came second with 15,522 votes.
In what has drawn widespread attention, the singer-turned-politician failed to win at his own polling station, where he managed only 21 votes, compared to Ali Mulyanyama’s 240 votes at the same station.
Overall, Tuff B failed to accumulate 500 votes across the entire constituency, a performance he later blamed on alleged electoral malpractices.
The loss has left Tuff B in a difficult position, having earlier resigned from his job at NBS Television to pursue politics, banking on a parliamentary victory that did not materialize.
Sources close to the media personality indicate that he is now considering quitting active politics to focus on his personal life. It is also alleged that Tuff B is seeking a second chance at NBS Television, reportedly hoping that station CEO Kin Kariisa may reconsider his return to the Naguru-based broadcaster.
