Nubian Li Lists His First Priorities After Winning Mayorship Bid

Singer-turned-politician Buken Ali, popularly known as Nubian Li, has officially outlined his key priorities after being elected Mayor of Nakawa Division in last week’s elections.

Nubian Li, who secured a landslide victory, revealed that his top focus areas will be hygiene and proper garbage disposal across the division.

The new mayor-elect also said he plans to prioritize primary healthcare and address the growing problem of youth unemployment in Nakawa.

Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Nubian Li explained that improving sanitation and infrastructure will be his first step once he assumes office.

“As soon as I take over the office, I will focus on hygiene, garbage disposal and make sure all the water channels are maintained to high standards. Then I will work on improving healthcare, mainly the primary one, and also tackle youth unemployment,” Nubian Li said.

He further disclosed that his leadership will be supported by the Lord Mayor-elect Ronald Balimwezo, Leader of Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, among other key political figures.

Nubian Li is a close associate and longtime music colleague of NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, a connection that has played a significant role in his political rise.

With high expectations from residents, many are now eager to see whether the artist-turned-leader will translate his campaign promises into real change on the ground.
