Singer Nina Roz has clarified her political stance after attending a recent event hosted by Norbert Mao.

The event, held at Mao’s residence in Rubaga, brought together key stakeholders in the creative industry to celebrate the recent amendment of the Copyright Amendment Bill.

Nina Roz’s presence raised eyebrows, given her known affiliation with the National Unity Platform (NUP).

However, speaking in an interview with a local television station, the singer dismissed speculation about any political shift.

“I attended the event as a musician. I am here to celebrate the win we registered earlier this month. I am still an active member of NUP but not its representative at this event,” she explained.

She emphasized that her attendance was based on a personal invitation from Mao rather than through the Uganda National Musicians Federation.

Nina Roz also distanced herself from the federation, stating that she no longer aligns with its objectives.

“I came here on the invitation of Minister Norbert Mao,” she added.

Her remarks come amid ongoing tensions within the music industry, where politics and creative advocacy continue to intersect.
