Musician Eddy Kenzo has defended himself against criticism following his comments about the newly amended Copyright Law and government plans to introduce systems for tracking music airplay across the country.

Kenzo’s remarks sparked debate online, with some critics accusing him of misunderstanding the law and its implementation.

In response, the singer said people should not mistake gaps in knowledge for ignorance, adding that his experience and success in the music industry speak for themselves.

“People call me ignorant; they’re right because there is so much I don’t know. But there are also things I do know. I have grown in the music industry, and my success speaks for itself,” Kenzo said.

The Big Talent boss emphasized that his long journey in the entertainment industry has given him a deep understanding of the business and its dynamics.

The debate comes amid growing discussions among musicians and stakeholders about the implementation of Uganda’s amended Copyright and Neighbouring Rights Act.
