Nakawa Division Mayor and Firebase Army vice president Nubian Li has praised musician Eddy Kenzo for his support towards the family of the late singer Master Parrot.

Speaking during the funeral arrangements, Nubian Li commended Kenzo for standing with fellow artists and contributing to efforts aimed at giving the fallen musician a dignified send-off.

According to Nubian Li, Kenzo worked closely with members of the Firebase fraternity throughout the burial preparations, demonstrating solidarity with the late singer's family and friends.

“Eddy Kenzo has played a huge part in sending off Parrot. He has expressed the feeling of a Firebase member and done us well. He is still loved in Firebase because it is a culture; once a member, always a member,” Nubian Li said.

His remarks come despite the political differences that have emerged over the years between Kenzo and some members of the Firebase camp. Kenzo has previously faced criticism from sections of the group over his support for President Yoweri Museveni, while many Firebase members remain aligned with opposition leader Bobi Wine.

However, Nubian Li emphasized that political disagreements should not overshadow the bonds formed through music and friendship, suggesting that Kenzo remains an important figure within the broader Firebase family.

The comments were reportedly welcomed by Kenzo and several other musicians who appreciated the message of unity and solidarity during a difficult moment for Uganda's music industry.

Master Parrot, a founding member of the original Firebase Crew, passed away following a tragic road accident, leaving behind a legacy as one of Uganda's pioneering dancehall and reggae artists.
