Fresh details have emerged regarding the health of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among following earlier claims by Muhammad Nsereko that she was battling a blood clot and was unable to walk.
Earlier this week, Nsereko called upon the government to allow Among to seek medical attention from hospitals of her choice, claiming her condition required urgent intervention.
Now, Bukedea County MP David Beecham Okwere has also weighed in, urging the government to allow Ms Among access to her doctors.
However, Okwere dismissed reports that Among is critically ill, although he confirmed that she showed signs of swollen feet when he last met her.
Speaking to local media, Okwere revealed that he visited Among at her residence in Nakasero last Tuesday and found her able to move around within her compound.
He nonetheless acknowledged concerns about her health and her ability to access comprehensive medical care.
Okwere added that he could not confirm whether the swelling was linked to blood clotting, as previously alleged by former Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko.
The developments come just days after Nsereko claimed during a TikTok live broadcast that Among was seriously ill and in need of urgent treatment.
