Singer Vinka has responded after Swangz Avenue co-founder Julius Kyazze described her as the greatest investment of his career, saying she understands why he made the remark but also feels the weight of the expectations it creates.
Speaking during an interview with a local radio station, Vinka said Kyazze's comments reflected the journey she has taken since launching her professional music career under Swangz Avenue in 2017.
The singer noted that those who have followed her career from the beginning, including her fellow label mates, understand the context behind Kyazze's statement.
"I think for someone that has known Vinka from the beginning, when someone says that, they have to understand. I know artists like Winnie Nwagi wouldn't take it personally because they know my journey from an artist manager. For the business that you took a bet on and people eventually going for it, the brand is now big and Vinka is a huge household name, then it makes sense," she said.
Despite appreciating the praise, Vinka admitted that the comments also left her feeling under pressure to continue living up to expectations.
"For me that is a bit scary. I felt as if someone had put a huge load on me, plus the pressure. Usually when I am on stage, I am very nervous when there is Benon and Julius. I am scared of making any mistakes," she added.
Kyazze's remarks have sparked discussion among music fans about Vinka's growth since joining Swangz Avenue and the impact she has had on the record label over the years.
