Minister Balaam Barugahara has dismissed reports circulating on social media that Tooro King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has died, confirming that the monarch is alive but currently unwell.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Balaam said the 34-year-old King remains under medical care in the United States, following hours of speculation triggered by unconfirmed reports of his alleged death.
“His Majesty the King of Tooro is still unwell and remains under medical management in the United States of America,” Barugahara said.
Balaam Calls for Prayers
The minister urged Ugandans and well-wishers to unite in prayer for the King's recovery rather than relying on unverified reports circulating online.
“At this time, let us unite as Ugandans and people of goodwill in prayer for His Majesty. We pray for God's healing hand, strength, comfort and a miraculous recovery,” he added.
The statement is the clearest public confirmation so far that King Oyo is receiving medical treatment abroad.
Earlier Reports Denied
The latest development comes weeks after Tooro Kingdom rejected reports that King Oyo was critically ill and undergoing cancer treatment.
On August 3, 2026, the Kingdom said the monarch was abroad for official engagements and further studies, while urging the public to rely on official channels for information about his health.
With the latest statement from Minister Balaam, authorities have now confirmed that the King is indeed undergoing medical management, while strongly dismissing reports of his death.
