Dancehall veteran Kid Fox has opened up about his private life after spending 14 years in Japan, revealing that he returned to Uganda without a wife or children.
The musician, real name Steven Kiggundu, disappeared from Uganda's music scene more than a decade ago after relocating to Japan, where he shifted his focus away from music and towards a different chapter of his life.
Now back in Uganda, Kid Fox says one of his priorities is reconnecting with his mother and other relatives he left behind when he moved abroad.
Speaking to Galaxy TV, the veteran singer also opened up about his remarkably private love life, revealing that he remained a bachelor throughout his years in Japan.
“It's been 14 years. I have come to see my mother. I never left behind any family of my own. I went solo. By the way, that is a mystery. I do not have a child, a wife; I'm like that at my age,” he said.
The revelation may come as a surprise to fans who remember Kid Fox during his peak years in Uganda, when his dancehall music and celebrity status made him a familiar figure in the entertainment industry.
While many of his contemporaries settled down and started families, Kid Fox says his priorities were largely centred on his ambitions and work.
He explained that relocating to Japan did not change that, as his daily routine largely involved working and returning home.
“Even there, I didn't marry. I do not have any children. Life in Japan is just work and going back to your house,” he said.
Kid Fox also shared his views on dating Japanese women, suggesting that finding a partner was not easy and that he was unwilling to compromise his principles simply to enter a relationship.
“Japanese women are not easy unless you opt to go for the spoiled ones; I cannot do this because I have principles,” he added.
After more than a decade away, Kid Fox is now attempting to reconnect with Uganda's music industry and has already expressed interest in collaborating with artistes including Sheebah Karungi and Ziza Bafana as he plots his comeback.
