Kadongo Kamu musician-turned-politician Mathias Walukaga has revealed that he is still struggling to clear debts incurred during his campaign for the Busiro East parliamentary seat.
Walukaga said he spent more than Shs300 million on the campaign and continues to pay off the outstanding debts months after losing the election.
“I spent over Shs300 million on campaigns. I am still paying debts up to today. It is that painful, but true,” he said in an interview with a local television station.
The musician said he plans to use proceeds from an upcoming concert to help clear some of the financial obligations left from the campaign.
The concert, which was initially scheduled for November, has been postponed to January 15, 2027.
Walukaga’s comments highlight the financial burden he says he has continued to carry since the parliamentary contest.
