Reggae dancehall singer Sama Sojah has claimed that indiscipline, rather than discipline, has contributed to the success of some musicians in Uganda.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Sama Sojah argued that some artistes have achieved success despite what he described as indiscipline, while disciplined musicians like himself have struggled to receive similar recognition.
“Indiscipline has made people successful in the music industry. They have been successful because of that indiscipline, while we, the good ones and the disciplined, starve,” he said.
Sama Sojah has previously made claims about challenges he says he has faced in Uganda’s music industry, including allegations of witchcraft affecting his career.
He has continued to speak openly about what he believes are problems within the industry, using his experiences to question how success and recognition are achieved.
