A section of artists have written to the minister of Gender and Culture, Peace Mutuuzo, requesting her to dissolve Benon Kibuka’s mandate as the chairman of Uganda federation of performing artists(UFPA)

A letter was written through a popular law firm, Busingye and Co. Advocates.

Musicians led by Kenzo came to this agreement at a meeting held last week. In the letter, they say they are not part of Kibuka’s association yet it keeps representing them. Kibuka’s association, they say is illegitimate.

These artists also add that they don’t belong to the federation and have plans of forming their own.

This comes at a time where the discussion of the proposed regulations on musicians is ongoing. Benon Kibuka, who is the head of UFPA seems to be supporting the proposed regulations. It should be noted that most musicians do not support the proposed regulations by the ministry of Gender.
