Last week, a group of artists led by Bebe Cool held a meeting with the Minister of Justice, Norbert Mao to seek his help on the implementation of copyright law, among other things.

The delegation presented several things they thought would benefit the music industry.

In an interview, dancehall artist Ziza Bafana punched holes in that meeting saying that the challenges in the music industry cannot be solved by someone who has no idea how the industry works.

“That meeting won’t bear any fruit. Our music business is complex and only requires smart brains in the music fraternity to deal with them. There’s no need to involve politicians in our affairs,” Bafana said when he was asked to comment on the meeting between the artists and Mao.

The Minister promised to support the amendment of the copyright law so that artists can earn more money from their craft.
