Earlier this week, music critic James Propa appeared in an interview with a local YouTuber and shared his thoughts about Bebe Cool's "Break the Chains" album.
Propa, a popular music agent for Spotify Africa, called out Bebe Cool over poor marketing and promotion of the songs on the album.
He explained that Bebe Cool "went to sleep" after the album's release, something that has affected its growth, and says he should get to work if he still believes in its progress.
"Bebe Cool is too comfortable for the album to succeed on the international market. He should be on promotional tours in Lagos, the United Kingdom, or the USA, meeting with different stakeholders and promoting the music," he explained.
The Gagamel boss has responded to the criticism and says James Propa's opinion doesn't matter at this time.
Bebe Cool explained that before releasing the album, he contacted James Propa, seeking better ways to promote it, but Propa "kept playing hide-and-seek instead of stepping up to work."
"I was so disappointed by James Propa's criticism because I called him about three times seeking ways to promote the album, and he didn't help. He also went to a local podcast to talk about streaming music with someone who lacks knowledge about it. He should do better next time," he explained.
Bebe Cool rallied James Propa and other Ugandans to join him in promoting the body of work instead of fighting its progress.
