Rapper Navio is arguably one of the music legends in the East African region. He has successfully been a rap artist for almost twenty years.
Navio has remained consistent in the game, and his rapping is purely in English.
Despite the narrative that English rappers do not make money in Uganda, Navio says otherwise. He explained that English rapping pays.
He says it is not about the language but the art you present to people. He explained that good art always connects with audiences no matter the language.
"It's about the art; music always connects with the people no matter the language," he explained. "I have personally been paid through rap music for all the time I have been doing it and can't say otherwise."
Just like many other people, Navio believes art has no limits. It can go as far as conquering different borders and cultures as long as it builds a connection with them, despite the language barrier.
