Veteran Ugandan singer Mesach Semakula says the resurgence of classic Ugandan songs on TikTok proves that quality music can stand the test of time.

The singer, who has maintained a music career spanning nearly two decades, believes only songs with strong messages and quality production continue to resonate with new generations, while many recent releases struggle to achieve similar longevity.

Speaking in a media interview, Semakula said veteran musicians are regaining attention because they focused on creating timeless music instead of chasing short-lived trends.

"Only the good ones come back, not all of them. Creatives should focus on making quality music that will last and benefit them for years," Semakula said.

His remarks come as TikTok continues to play a major role in reviving classic Ugandan music, introducing older songs to younger audiences and giving veteran artists renewed visibility.

Songs by the late Paul Job Kafeero, Mowzey Radio, Eagles Production Band, Jose Chameleone and Bobi Wine are among the Ugandan classics that continue to trend on the platform years after their original release.
