Musician Ava Peace has highlighted the growing presence of female artistes in Uganda’s music industry, arguing that women can no longer be left out of conversations about the country’s top performers.
Speaking in an interview with a local television station, Ava Peace said female artistes have become more hardworking and are receiving greater recognition for their contribution to the industry.
“We are very smart now, and I believe we’re all doing well,” she said.
According to Ava Peace, the progress can be seen in the way female musicians are competing, releasing quality music and establishing themselves in an industry that has traditionally attracted more attention to male artistes.
She added that any serious discussion about Uganda’s biggest musicians should include female artistes, saying women have earned their place among the country’s leading performers.
