The Ugandan National Police has acquired four anti-riot trucks for crowd control operations ahead of the 2016 presidential elections. The trucks were spotted at the Mombasa port.
This is one of the strategies Police is taking to prevent violence which according to Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Katumba Wamala, is not acceptable and will be prevented at all costs — which is why the police are also recruiting 36,000 special police constables (SPCs) in addition to tens of thousands of crime preventers.
According to the police spokesperson Mr. Fred Enanga, these police trainees will carry out foot patrols in Kampala Metropolitan area and other municipalities to increase police visibility in order to deter criminals from disrupting the country's stability.
The vehicles will be arriving int the country soon. See the photos!
