Two people died after eating food suspected to have been poisoned in Pajeyi village, Pawati parish, Atyak Subcounty, Amuru district.

Deputy police spokesperson Patrick Onyango indicates that Akello Mary prepared suspected poisoned food for her family on March 31st. 

It is reported that on April 1st, Easter Sunday, Akello and her son Oloyo Walter 24, were found dead, while her husband Charles Otim, 55 and their other son Ochaya David were rushed to Lachor hospital for treatment.

The survivors according to Onyango, were in bad shape. Bodies of the deceased were also taken to the same hospital for postmortem.

Police is still investigating the matter. 

Meanwhile, three people were struck to death by lightning and three others injured on April 1st (Easter Sunday) at about 1PM. The incident happened in Bukasiri A village, Katobi Subcounty, Mayuge district. 

The injured were rushed to Mayuge health centre 3 for treatment. The victims were coming from sugarcane cutting when it started raining and they took shelter at a nearby primary school, where they were later struck by the lightening.

Deputy Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango identified the deceased as; Muniru 50, Mutebi Rashid 27, and Okware 16.
