Mourners are gathered at Namirembe Cathedral for the funeral service of late Prime Minister Prof. Apolo Nsibambi who passed on Tuesday last week at his home in Mengo. The former premier had been battling cancer.

According to the official program, the body will leave Namirembe and head to St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda buloba and later burial will take place at the same church.

Government officials, politicians, church leaders, traditional leaders, diplomats, academicians and the general public are expected to attend the final send off.

Traffic Police department has issued a route chat that will be used by mourners in different capacities. They have been advised to use Kampala-Entebbe express way, Northern By-pass, Mityana-Kampala Highway and Kasero roads. 

Traffic officers will be deployed on these roads to guide mourners to their designated parking areas. 

“VVIPs will park at St. Stephen’s Church Buloba as will be received by protocol. VIPs will be dropped at the venue and vehicles proceed to the designated parking at Kamila millers, while the general public will be dropped off along Mityana-Kampala Highway which is adjacent to the burial grounds and vehicles will continue to their designated parking at St. Balikuddembe Catholic Church Buloba and Buloba Health centre” part of the statement reads.

Members of the general public have been advised to avoid overspending and careless driving.
