Drama ensued at Kalaki district after the council rejected three nominees for the post of District Health and Education Secretary. The candidates are Immaculate Ilado, the Kalaki and Kakure Sub County female councilor, Nosaiata Emechu, the Otuboi and Apapai Sub county female representative and Moses Oriada.

The Kalaki interim LC V Chairperson, Samuel Okello nominated the trio for appointment on Monday shortly after taking oath of office. He first nominated Immaculate Ilado, the Kalaki and Kakure female Sub County councilor for appointment as District Health and Education Secretary.

However, only five of the 10-member council voted for her while the remaining five voted against. Okello was then tasked to nominate another name, forcing him to come up with Nosaiata Emechu, the Otuboi and Apapai Sub County female councilor, who also garnered five votes while five councilors voted against.

The Chairman was given one more chance and he nominated Moses Oriada. He garnered four votes against six, prompting council to postpone the election until the next council meeting.

Apapai Sub county councilor, Daniel Denis Obonyo who spoke to reporters after the dramatic meeting noted that they rejected Ilado’s nomination because she didn’t deliver when he occupied the same position in Kaberamaido district.

Meanwhile, council approved the nomination of Pascal Engwau as Kalaki district LC V Vice chairperson, Christine Areo, the District Finance and Administration Secretary, Ketty Agwang, District Works Secretary.
