Singer Mary Bata has shared a frightening experience involving a birthday gift she claims contained strange items, saying the incident prompted her to seek spiritual guidance from her pastor.

Speaking on a local podcast, Bata said the experience changed how she views gifts from other people and made her more cautious about accepting them.

She explained that one of the guests at her birthday party had apologised for failing to bring a gift on time and promised to send it later.

According to the singer, the person eventually sent her a package about a month later, but its contents left her frightened.

“So what happened, one of the people who attended my birthday party said they didn't manage to get me a gift in time but said they'll send it over soon. After a month, they sent me a package that contained different strange things, and I got scared,” she said.

Bata said the incident reinforced her belief in the existence of witchcraft. She also expressed concern about what might have happened had she not taken the experience seriously.

The singer has since resolved to be more selective about the gifts she accepts, joking that she would feel more comfortable receiving items such as cars or land.
