Police in Kakumiro district are hunting for unidentified robbers who shot a Boda Boda cyclist.

Andrew Bigirwenkya, a resident of Wabitama Village Kitegura parish Nkoko sub-county Kakumiro district was shot in the wee hours of Friday morning when thugs raided his home and ordered him to surrender the money. 

He however attempted to fight the robbers when after taking his money, they wanted to steal his Bajaj motorcycle registration number UEW 678X. 
Bigirwenkya sounded an alarm, forcing the thugs to shoot him on the right arm and stomach before disappearing.

Residents rescued the victim and rushed to Nkoko health centre III in critical condition and he is currently undergoing treatment.   

Kakumiro District Police Commander Najib Waiswa says that two bullet cartridges were recovered at the crime scene and wants members of the public to join hands with security operatives to ensure that the gun used by the suspected robbers is recovered. 

Adding that the robbers could be hiding in areas of Kyankwanzi, Kiboga, Kakumiro Mubende and Hoima.
