The Inspectorate of Government has taken over investigations of a case where Nicholas Kananura was interdicted as Buhweju district Principal Human Resource officer.
Kananura was interdicted by Henry Ddamba the Buhweju district Chief Administrative Officer who directed him to vacate the office with immediate effect on Tuesday to pave way for investigations, for allegedly overpaying some staff on the District payroll and the existence of ghost employees.
According to the CAO, Kananura who was the sole data entrant on the district payroll is responsible for these anomalies if at all they are proved.
Now, Frederick Okech the IG Regional Manager Mbarara says his office has chosen to take over the case after receiving a notification of fraud and corruption from the office of the Chief Administration officer.
According to Okech, the focus of the investigation is around the entire payroll and the payment register for the district noting that they are commencing work on April 25th, 2022.
Currently, Kananura has been directed to stay away from office premises unless called upon and not to leave the country without permission during the time of interdiction.
