The bodies of David Mutaaga (69) and his wife Florence Mutaaga (62), who were brutally murdered in July in Entebbe, will finally be repatriated to Zurich, Switzerland, where the grieving children have chosen to lay them to rest.
The orphans reportedly abandoned plans to travel to Kampala after police investigations failed to establish the real motive behind the horrific killings. Although two suspects have already been arrested, the motive remains unclear, sparking fear and concern among relatives abroad.
The couple, who had lived in Zurich for over 30 years, were murdered on Sunday, July 6th 2025 inside their home in Lugonjo, Nakiwogo Cell, Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.
INVESTIGATION FINDINGS
According to police sources, a forensic team recovered fingerprints and other critical evidence from the crime scene and submitted them to the Government Analytical Laboratory for analysis.
Investigators also retrieved CCTV footage that shows how the attacker accessed the home, reportedly wielding a knife.
Sources say the killer called the victims by their names throughout the attack.
“Deborah, do you think it’s only you with children? We also want to be well off. You can call whoever you want, but I have come to kill you and nothing will deter me,” a security insider quoted the assailant.
Police say the precision of the attack and the clean escape route strongly indicate it was not a random crime.
“We are following leads indicating a possible family feud over the inheritance of the late patriarch’s property,” investigators noted.
Reliable sources within the probe reveal that authorities are also examining reported conflicts over distribution of family land and assets.
“There is rising tension over who controls the family estate, even as the bodies lie unburied,” one investigator stated.
“This is likely to delay key decisions on burial and legal responsibilities.”
