Politician Abed Bwanika has officially conceded to the growing political influence of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, commonly known as Bobi Wine, ending nearly two years of a heated political split.

Bwanika, alongside Mathias Mpuuga and Juliet Kakande, previously fell out with Bobi Wine and exited the National Unity Platform (NUP), forming a breakaway opposition faction known as the Democratic Front.

However, following Bobi Wine’s massive rally in Masaka over the weekend, Bwanika publicly endorsed him for the presidency, urging voters to cast their ballots in his favour.

Speaking at a rally in Masaka, Bwanika acknowledged that Bobi Wine conducted himself responsibly during his visit and did not attack any political rivals.

“Bobi Wine never attacked anyone when he came here in Masaka. He just asked for his votes. Therefore, give him your votes. I am running for a parliamentary position and he is vying for a presidential office—vote for him.” Bwanika told cheering supporters.

Bwanika is currently contesting for Member of Parliament for Kimanya constituency in Masaka District, facing competition from NUP’s Kutesa and other candidates.

His endorsement marks a significant shift in Masaka’s political dynamics ahead of the 2026 general elections.
