Musician Kalifah AgaNaga has praised Eddy Kenzo, arguing that no Ugandan artist currently matches his achievements both locally and internationally.
Speaking during an interview with a local television station, AgaNaga pointed to Kenzo's awards and international recognition as evidence of his success, highlighting his BET Award win and Grammy nomination.
AgaNaga also praised Kenzo for achieving international recognition while predominantly performing in Luganda, saying his success demonstrates that language has not limited his ability to compete on the global stage.
"No Ugandan musician can live up to Eddy Kenzo. He has won almost all awards in the country and at international level. He even beats those who sing in English yet he does it in Luganda. He has won the BET and Grammy Award nominee," AgaNaga said.
Kenzo became the first Ugandan artist to win a BET Award in 2015, while his song Gimme Love with American singer Matt B was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Global Music Performance category.
AgaNaga's comments add to the ongoing debate about Uganda's most successful musicians and the artists who have made the biggest impact beyond the country's borders.
